IP NETWORK SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR

 

The IP Network Systems Administrator is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing Open Source, Windows, and Unix Servers and electronic mail services, with network security a necessary skill set. The IP Network Systems Administrator must possess strong scripting skills with the ability to learn new applications and concepts quickly. Providing IP Network and IT support, the IP Network Systems Administrator will also provide last resort problem identification in the system administration department.

 

Coordinating with Network Engineers, duties may include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software, and working with VMware, EMC Clarion and FreeBSD products as well as Redhat Linux, Microsoft Exchange and Active Directory. Duties will also include On Call rotation, providing afterhours support as needed and performing other production support activities as required including but not limited to hardware and infrastructure maintenance, allocating mass storage space and quality of service standards.

 

Experience and Education

The successful candidate will have at least 4 years formal instruction and job related experience with Server Administration, scripting, and installation and maintenance of Apache, PHP and MYSQL on Linux. Experience with Virtual environments, VMware, ESX, ESXI and EMC SAN storage solutions are also required. Preference will be given to candidates with technical certifications. Bachelor of Science degree is desirable.

PROJECT ENGINEER

The Project Engineer will be responsible for the technical implementation of a wide range of technologies with emphasis on Internet Protocol and wireless technologies. Acting as a liaison between the Business Development Manager and the technical disciplines involved in a project, the selected candidate must be able to discuss strategies, business process improvements and future relationship growth with industry leading vendors and service providers that will result in cost savings, reduced time-to-market and maintain the leading edge in technology.

 

This position will require hands-on involvement with internal and external teams, working autonomously or in a team environment, tracking and resolving all issues while maintaining an aggressive delivery schedule. Specifically, the Project Engineer will develop strategies by platform and by vertical market; create plans and schedules for implementation; create and track compliance documents; specify and coordinate certification tests and trials; understand technology trends and work with marketing to drive competitive features; manage conformance tests and regulatory approvals; work with RF engineers on antenna and RF requirements/design; obtain wireless and networking industry certifications as required; and be a contributor of innovate and key market technologies/capabilities.

 

Experience and Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with a minimum of 5 years experience in related field. Good foundational and current industry knowledge desired. Must use engineering training and apply to telecommunications services using in-depth working knowledge of wireless technologies and IP networking, routing, switching and security. The individual selected for this position must demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate relevant project information. Self-motivation and the ability to work well independently and as a team member required. Problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment are essential.

Education/Experience

NETWORK TECHNICIAN

 

Texas Lone Star Network is looking for a Network Technician to be based out of our 2323 Bryan St. POP in Dallas, TX.

 

Job duties are as follows:

Monitor the Texas Lone Star Transport Network using the DPS Telecom T-MonXm surveillance platform. This person will respond to alarms and customer trouble calls, isolate trouble, notify responsible parties and coordinate repair and restoration of the facilities and circuits. The technician will install, provision, test, and repair various levels of transport and private line circuits and equipment. This will include but not be limited to DS0 thru Oc-n circuits. The equipment would include Cisco 15454 SONET and DWDM; General knowledge of Routers (Cisco, Brocade) and Internet Protocol; CAC 1/0 DACS; DPS Telecom TMON and Netguardian; as well as associated Battery and power modules. The technician may be required to travel throughout the TLSN Network to install and/or repair this equipment. The technician may be required to work overtime, some weekends, and hours other than a normal 8-hour day tour.
