Livingston Telephone Company Open House a Roaring Success

As reported last month, Livington Telephone Company held an Open House Celebration at Rolling Hills Country Club in Livingston on July 11 to introduce its offering of Myrio Corporation's interactive digital home entertainment and communication services to Livingston customers.

According to attendees, the Open House was a huge success.  The function was well attended, with representatives from various industry backgrounds and agencies present to share General Manager Curt Walzel's excitement.

The presentation by Myrio was incredible!  Digital cable TV, DSL and "video-on-demand" all rolled into one - available individually or as a package.  Billing is seamless as well, all itemized and included on customers' monthly bills, as well as being available "online" for customers' convenience.

Everyone in attendance was very excited about the potential revenue of the service as well as the user-friendly operation of the product itself.  Curt Walzel has a "tiger by the tail" with this new offering.  Without any advertising whatsoever, he already has a list of 500 people wanting this new service!

TSTCI Thanks You for Another Successful Conference

Thanks to all the participants of the 2000 Bookkeepers/Accountants/Commercial Conference in San Antonio for another successful gathering of great folks!  The program was outstanding, and everyone seemed to enjoy the history of the Menger.  Some of the attendees commented that they needed an extra suitcase to take all the handout materials back but were pleased with the quality of information and speakers.  Please join us in expressing our appreciation to the speakers, sponsors, and everyone involved in the success of the conference.  We would like to give extra special recognition to Curtis Blakely & Company and Bolinger, Segars, Gilbert & Moss for again providing some of their quality accountants for the Wednesday afternoon session.

Plateau Telecommunications, Inc., a subsidiary of ENMR Telephone Cooperative, Inc., was given regulatory approval to begin providing telecommunications services in Clovis as well as other communities in New Mexico.  The approval granted by the New Mexico Public Regulatory Commission will allow Plateau to provide the same high quality telephone, long distance, Internet, high speed data and wireless services for local area businesses as it does in many of the rural exchanges of New Mexico.

According to Vice President and General Manager Tom Phelps, "It is our intention for Plateau to offer customers high quality service in Clovis beginning in early to mid-summer.  For the first time, customers will have a choice between providers of their telecommunications services.  The Clovis market seems to be a logical starting point for these offerings.  Our corporate analyses also indicate justification for entering the competitive markets in other outlying communities.  Among the keys for our success will be competitive pricing of our service, but maybe more importantly, Plateau's ability to provide local technical support and local response to customers' telecommunications needs."

In other news from ENMR.Plateau -  In conjunction with the Foundation for Rural Service, ENMR.Plateau sponsored two area students for the 2000 Foundation for Rural Service Washington, DC Youth Tour.  ENMR.Plateau has been involved with this program for the past five years.  During the four-day program,  students learned firsthand about the telecommunications industry and the legislative process.  Lectures on these subjects were greatly enhanced by site visits to the U.S. Capitol Building and the FCC, and in meetings with industry leaders, including members of Congress.
Students from the ENMR.Plateau area are selected based on recommendations from local school administrators.  Two schools within the trade area are chosen at random to recommend an outstanding student in the junior class for sponsorship to the Youth Tour.  Students chosen for this year's sponsorship were Denise Whitener of Texaco High School and Marilee Bryan of Corona High School.
