2016 Futures Retreat Conference

Dear TSTCI Members and Associate Members

Head ‘em up, move ‘em out – we’re heading to the Land of Enchantment and the Inn of the Mountain Gods for this year’s TSTCI Future’s Retreat. So start picking up and packing up and we’ll see you in New Mexico August 3-4, 2016!!!

The Futures Retreat is an opportunity to get insight into what the “future” of our industry may look like and/or an opportunity to hear about people, issues, technology that may be now or in the future industry-impacting! While none of us mortals can accurately predict 100% of the future, we can see trends, technology advances, and consumer directions that help provide a pathway to planning and preparing.

Every year, we think our industry can’t continue to change at the speed it has; every year we think it can’t be any more complicated; every year we think…. But our industry is ever-changing, ever-complicated, ever-….. We are no longer telecommunications. We are communications. We are no longer local. We are global. We are no longer the conduit of communications just between people; We are a piece part of the conduit of communications/ interactions between people, banks, consumers, social networks, health care providers, and the list goes on.

The buzzword for several years has been and continues to be BROADBAND. But with that word and that service and those capabilities has also come another buzzword – CYBER and CYBER SECURITY. Or in many instances, Cyber Insecurity! This year’s conference is going to focus on Cyber – Security, insecurity, vulnerability, opportunity. We are also going to focus on LEADERSHIP because with our changing industry and our changing world, we also have to make changes in our leadership skills and tools.

The 2016 TSTCI Futures Retreat will begin Wednesday morning -August 3rd at the Inn of the Mountain Gods, Mescalero, New Mexico and conclude Thursday, August 4th at noon. The sessions will begin Wednesday morning with a breakfast buffet at 7:00 am and the Opening General Session at 8:00 am. After lunch on your own, we will return for one dynamic afternoon session on Wednesday and then give you some personal time before the Celebration Reception. On Thursday, we’ll begin again with a 7:00 am breakfast buffet and two morning speakers before ending around 11:45 am.

Our Opening Keynote speaker, Gary Zelesky will start us off with a two part presentation on “Passion Centered People.” Gary’s zest and enthusiasm will help teach us the nuts and bolts of passion and why it matters. Gary will give us tools for exploring, defining, developing and living our passion every day. People who know their passion and live it are not defined by circumstances, but by courage.

When we return from lunch, we’ve invited a technology trends expert (still working to confirm).

Thursday, professional speaker, Phillip Van Hooser, will kick off the day with “The Evolving Leadership Challenge.” For over thirty years, Phil has spoken about, trained others, consulted for and written books on leadership. On Thursday morning, with his high energy-highly interactive presentation, Phil will introduce us to the practical nature of change, the new breed of employees and who/what the next generation of leaders for our members will look like.

Following Phil’s opening session, Jim O’Brien, Zero Day-ADB Companies, will give us an installment into Cyber Security – Assessment & Awareness.

Then Phil Van Hooser will return to the stage as our finale with “Professionalism Is A Choice.” As TSTCI leaders, each of us is expected to not only preach professionalism, but to personify it in everything we say, do and even in the way we think. Phil will send us on our way with practical steps guaranteed to enhance your level of professionalism on a personal level, while promoting a heightened level of professional thought and action at the organizational level.

While we are still finalizing some of our speakers, we wanted to get this preliminary agenda outline out to you so that you can go ahead with your registration and hotel reservations.
