This position is Senior to all others in the Cooperative except for the General Manager. This individual must provide effective leadership and management of operational activities related to staffing, finance and accounting, marketing and sales, contracts, plant operations and projects. Acts to assist GM to coordinate activities of individual departments, bringing harmony to the flow of work and helps ensure departments are running efficiently. Enables the GM to work most effectively and manages the company in the GM’s absence.

Education and Experience
A Master’s degree in Business Administration or related field and a minimum of 5 years work experience in telecom management; or a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 7 years work experience in related management level. HCTC is in an aggressive “next stage” of network modernization emphasizing Fiber-to-the-Premise as well as CLEC expansion. Construction Manager

Job Description:

Dell Telephone Cooperative, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled-self motivated individual with strong leadership skills and successful background in telecom construction to fill the position of Construction Manager.

Job Duties:

  • Responsible for all construction projects, including improvement and maintenance of telephone facilities.
  • Supervises construction crew which includes cable splicer’s, line and ground workers, heavy equipment operators and mechanics.
  • Supervises construction progress, ensures quality standards and completion dates
  • Trains and directs aerial and buried cable construction crews. 
  • Pre-surveys job sites to determine needs for workers, equipment, materials, parts and safety provisions. 
  • Schedules personnel for projects and makes site inspections to check public safety precautions and use of prescribed safety equipment and procedures. 
  • Responds to outside plant emergency calls. 
  • May oversee contractors installing underground conduit and cable.
  • Travel throughout ILEC/CLEC area required.
  • Provides General Manager (GM) with accurate and timely status reports, ensuring GM is fully aware of all issues.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in telecommunications, wireless infrastructure and telecom construction.
  • 5+ years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Excellent computer skills; ability to read and interpret maps.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to motivate employees, set priorities and complete tasks on time.
  • Valid driver’s license required, CDL preferred.
  • Background check required.

I/R Technician

Department: I/R

Reports to: I/R Supervisor 

Location:  Royse City, TX

Position Summary:Installs, maintains and services customer’s home or business location. Typically installs drop wires, station protectors and network interface devices and performs initial wiring and rewiring for new subscriber systems. May install and maintain broadband communications equipment.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Installs new service and equipment for subscribers by installing drop wires, station protections and network interface devices. Wires new systems using appropriate tools.
  • Maintains, troubleshoots and repairs existing outside plant by using test equipment to locate line trouble. Determines necessary repairs which may include repairing wiring, station protectors, ground connections, running new wires and replacing jacks, lids and pedestals as needed from the Central Office MDF to the customer location.
  • Completes all installation and repair related forms and reports.
  • May confer with customers to further determine problems and acceptable resolutions. Discusses POTS, DSL or other service needs with the Customer and makes appropriate recommendations.  
  • May install and maintain other unregulated equipment.
  • May install and maintain equipment for diversified telco services including broadband communications, video, alarms, fiber optic facilities, etc.
  • Maintains copper loop facilities.
  • Maintains all company issued equipment to ensure proper working order.
  • Maintains material inventory on work vehicle.
  • Locates cable as needed on a 24/7 hour basis.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned by management.*
